Yes, you read that correctly.  Besides Modern Warfare 3 releasing on the graphically superior Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, it will also be appearing on the Nintendo Wii.

The wonderful and creative folks over at Activision have decided to bless us all with another attempt at a hunting game.

In Cabela’s Survival: Shadows of Katmai, you play as Logan who after his plane crashes in a remote location in Alaska must survive off of the land.  Along the way, Logan will find hunting gear and firearms to aid you in your battle of survival against the scariest foes that the Alaskan wilderness has to offer.

This highly anticipated game is expected to launch on all consoles on November 1, 2011.  I have one question though.  Will Les Stroud be bundled with this surviving off the land adventure?

EA continues to spew it’s server shutdown wrath upon the gaming industry.

According to EA’s recent service update, beginning on August 11, 2011 the following games will be shut down:

Before you start moaning, there is more and they might come as a surprise.  On October 1, 2011 the following games will also be shut down:

EA is claiming that “as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles below a point”.   That’s right 2010 releases.  You are old.

New figures from the NPD group are showing that the Xbox 360 is leaving the competition behind as it pulls away in terms of online game sales and game point cards that sold in stores.

The graphs that were released by the NPD group today showcase that the Xbox 360 has had a steady and continuious rise in the number of online games and point cards that are being sold since 2006.  Sony’s PS3 appears to be staying steady with their numbers, while the Nintendo Wii looks to be hitting rock bottom during the four year period which the study was made.

• Far Cry 3 showcased a bit of story along with an opening cinematic that was all about “insanity” and a very dark and twisted storyline.
• Gearbox announced the new Brothers in Arms game that is straying far away from the traditional WWII setting and going into a more cartooney and outrageous atmosphere.
• Raving Rabbids Alive and Kicking will be Kinect friendly.

Chastity’s Final Verdict:  Ubisoft’s lineup is definitely something to look forward to.  Far Cry 3 looks like it is going to be an outstanding dark story and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations looks amazing.  The only announcement I was disappointed with was the new Brothers in Arms game.  That game should not bear “Brothers in Arms” in the title.  In fact it reminds of me Team Fortress with the characters.  Other than that, decent showing Ubisoft.
