Nintendo Confirms Wii U Is Region Locked
Nintendo has made a disappointing announcement regarding their upcoming console, Wii U. The console will be region locked.
Nintendo confirmed the news to Famitsu which was later translated by NeoGaf user Cheesmeister3k who translates gaming events in Japan on Twitter; "That can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played".
This should really come as no surprise considering that the Wii and 3DS are also region locked.
